About Us

Learn about the White Rock Counselling Cooperative, our mission, values, and cooperative model.

Our Story

The White Rock Counselling Cooperative was founded by a group of dedicated mental health professionals who shared a vision of creating a supportive community of practitioners while providing high-quality counselling services to the White Rock area.

Recognizing the challenges that independent counsellors face when establishing and maintaining their practices, our founders came together to create a cooperative model that would allow counsellors to maintain their independence while benefiting from shared resources, collaborative support, and a beautiful professional space.

Since our establishment, we have grown into a thriving community of counsellors offering diverse therapeutic approaches and specialties, united by our commitment to client-centered care and professional excellence.

Our cooperative structure allows us to create a unique environment where both clients and counsellors can thrive. For clients, this means access to a carefully curated network of qualified professionals in a welcoming, comfortable setting. For counsellors, it means being part of a supportive community while maintaining the autonomy of private practice.

Today, the White Rock Counselling Cooperative continues to evolve and grow, guided by our founding principles and responsive to the needs of our community. We remain committed to fostering mental health and wellbeing in White Rock and the surrounding areas through compassionate, evidence-informed counselling services.

The Cooperative Model

The White Rock Counselling Cooperative operates on a cooperative business model, which differs from traditional business structures in several important ways:

Shared Ownership & Governance

As a cooperative, we are owned and governed by our members—the counsellors who practice here. This means that decisions about the space, policies, and direction of the cooperative are made collectively, ensuring that the needs of all members are considered.

Each member has an equal voice in the cooperative's governance, regardless of the size of their practice or length of membership. This democratic structure creates a sense of ownership and investment in the cooperative's success.

Mutual Support & Collaboration

Our cooperative model emphasizes collaboration over competition. Members share resources, knowledge, and referrals, creating a supportive community that benefits everyone involved.

This collaborative approach extends to our shared responsibilities. Members contribute not only financially but also through their time, skills, and expertise, helping to maintain and improve our shared space and services.
